Sofia Barrientos
began dancing at the age of 6 when she took her first ballet class. It
was 7 years later that she picked up dancing again when she joined her
high school dance team. They went to the State Finals her freshman year
and took 3rd overall. From that point on she took anywhere from 2-5
dance classes a week as well as played sports during the ‘off season’ of
her dance team. She graduated from Coronado High School and from the
University of Colorado at Colorado Springs with a bachelor’s degree in
Communication and a minor in Music. She was a part of the Step & Hip Hop
team all throughout college and was the team captain for 2 of those
years. She was also involved in every intramural sporting event,
volunteered for several school events, tutored Spanish to her fellow
peers, and knew just about everyone at that school. She is now part of
the New Life Dance Ministry where she recently performed in the Thorn
production and is so excited to begin sharing her passion of dance with
students at Turning Pointe School of Dance.

Liz Cates
began
dancing when she was a sophomore in high school and also did
gymnastics and cheerleading in junior high. A good friend
suggested that she try-out for the dance team, so she did…little did
she know that her suggestion would change her life forever. She
immediately began taking Jazz and Hip Hop classes at Denton
Ballet
Academy, as well as basic ballet classes from another local studio. She
was chosen as an officer on her high school dance team and followed that
with making the UNT Dancers' team. She met two girls from Denton Bible's
dance ministry called Reach Across shortly after she quit the UNT dance
team...their goal was to "reach across" to others through the
medium of dance, and reach people with the message of Christ. It is
Liz's goal to not only teach some jazz and hip hop basics, but also to
have fun dancing while honoring Him who gave us the gift of dance. She
looks forward to this coming year and also getting her little ones
Kaitlyn and Kenzie involved in dance.

Christy Parcha
began
dancing when she was nine. She took worship ballet classes from Janelle
Adderley for two years and developed a great love of worshipping Jesus
through dance. Christy went on to take classical ballet classes for
four years under Patty Hoffman and has danced in numerous recitals, in
nursing homes, at Focus on the Family, in churches, at the annual
Father-Daughter Purity Ball, and even in living rooms! Christy was
an assistant ballet teacher twice and later taught worship ballet
classes on her own for two years. She has a passion to see Jesus
glorified in the hearts and lives of girls everywhere!
